WAVE Alpharetta is searching for a Contract CNC Machinery Implementation Engineer. This contract is a temporary assignment and anticipated to last for a period of about three (3) months. Over the duration of the contract, the Contract CNC Machinery Implementation Engineer will provide engineering support to commission a new CNC router that is already installed in our manufacturing facility in Alpharetta, Georgia.


In this role, the Contract CNC Machinery Implementation Engineer will be primarily working on the manufacturing floor interacting with CNC Operators and material handlers. They will program, troubleshoot, and re-program the CNC router to make specific parts to determined specifications. Additionally they will work to identify and implement processes to improve efficiency in making the product line being produced on the CNC router.

  • Ensure Safety of self, co-workers, and equipment.
  • Write programs in the language of a machine's controller and store programs on media
  • Determine the sequence of machine operations, and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes.
  • Revise programs or tapes to eliminate errors, and retest programs to check that problems have been solved.
  • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, printed circuit board pattern films, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
  • Write instruction sheets and cutter lists for a machine's controller to guide setup and encode numerical control tapes.
  • Program equipment to perform production tasks.
  • Determine production equipment settings.
  • Select production equipment according to product specifications.
  • Study blueprints or other instructions to determine equipment setup requirements.
  • Conduct test runs of production equipment.
  • Perform product Quality Inspection using metrology gages and run root cause analysis and/or capability studies.
  • Create diagrams or blueprints for workpieces or products.
  • Enter commands, instructions, or specifications into equipment.
  • Calculate dimensions of workpieces, products, or equipment.
  • Draw guide lines or markings on materials or workpieces using patterns or other references.
  • Plan production or operational procedures or sequences.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • Mount materials or workpieces onto production equipment.
  • Position patterns on equipment, materials, or workpieces.
Desired Experience
  • Expertise using MasterCam
  • Ability to use CAD, Inventor, 3D Modeling
  • Experience working in the Sheet Metal, Milling, Turning Centers industry
  • Experience in Manufacturing process improvement; LEAN, Six Sigma
Bachelors in Engineering General or Mechanical Engineering
