The Controls Technician is n responsible for the installation and testing of the instrumentation and electrical components of Worthington Industries’ products.  This position requires a customer focused attitude with the technical knowledge to understand and operate both PLC and HMI programming.  Responsibilities include understanding and improving customer’s control operation, troubleshooting sensors, and managing  procedures for SCADA and automation. Travel to customer sites within the Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania area required.

  • Timely completion of work on customer locations           


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs installation and testing of the instrumentation and electrical components of our products       
  • Interpret engineering designs and drawings to develop field installations             
  • Develop and install PLC and HMI programming
  • Implement commissioning and start‐up procedures for SCADA and automation
  • Create field reports related to project labor and materials


Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret P & ID drawings, electrical schematics
  • Use of basic electrical test equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical installation technical requirements in hazardous locations
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations
  • Professional appearance and attitude


Education / Training Required

  • Associate Degree – Electrical or equivalent training/experience
  • OSHA – Safeland – safety training
