Position Summary:

The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating safety training, the distribution of safety related training materials, and serves as a point of contact regarding safety issues at the facility. The Coordinator ensures Corporate Safety Policies and Procedures are followed. This position interacts regularly with maintenance, operations, shipping & receiving, transformation and human resources. A self-motivated, multi-tasker that utilizes a strong work ethic for a 350+ union facility in Chilton, WI is required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner
  • Ability to work in a team environment focusing on meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost standards
  • Lead various safety focus teams as needed and directed
  • Assist with incident investigations to include root cause and correction action identification
  • Collects safety related data and submit to corporate safety department
  • Coordinates safety activities
  • Acts as point of contact for any safety related issues
  • Tailors all applicable written model programs to the facility’s needs
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory related laws and standards
  • Ensures completion of open safety related inspection items and that issues are resolved and communicated
  • Ensures safety related and housekeeping inspections are completed
  • Ensures safety bulletin boards are utilized for verbal communications
  • Coordinates industrial health monitoring and assessment process
  • Work with outside medical resources and employees to facilitate timely and appropriate medical care
  • Interacts with and assists worker’s compensation coordinators when necessary
  • Conduct environmental regulatory inspections occasionally
  • Assist others as needed
  • Maintain a clean work area 
  • Complete paperwork as required
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of physical exertion such as long periods of standing, sitting, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching and reaching
  • Must be capable of recurring lifting or handling of heavy items or similar activities from ground level to above the head with weights of up to 30 pounds throughout the work shift

 

Environmental/Atmospheric Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to dust, fumes and odors
  • Exposure to solvent and chemicals
  • Other risks associated with working in a manufacturing environment

 

Machines, Tools, Equipment & Software Used:

  • Personal protective equipment including: ear plugs, gloves, respirator, safety glasses, steel toe boots and safety vest
  • Tools include but not limited to: ladder, tape measure, and fire extinguishers
  • Microsoft Office Programs (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)

     

Education / Training Required:

  • 1-3 years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Certification in first aid and CPR (1st Responder) and working knowledge of OSHA
