Summary

Worthington Industries is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team. The primary role of the Quality Engineer is to ensure human/machine interfaces and quality processes, procedures and controls are aligned to maximize quality production at a reduced cost. The Quality Engineer works with internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure requirements to design production-quality flow processes meets design and customer requirements. The ideal candidate utilizes strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills to identify, develop, and follow through on a course of action relative to production-quality flow processes. The Quality Engineer develops and conduct experiments, analyzes data to establish root cause, reduce operating cost, and improve throughput.  A detailed orientated, self-motivated, problem solver that utilizes a strong work ethic for a 350+ union employee facility in Chilton, WI is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner
  • Ability to work in a team environment focusing on meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost standards
  • Know, understand, and follow plant safety rules, policies and procedures
  • Manage gauge calibration system
  • Lead continuous improvement team
  • Trouble shoot daily operation issues through deductive thinking and testing
  • Create detailed reports of projects and testing
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Assist others as needed
  • Maintain a clean work area 
  • Complete paperwork as required
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager
  • Perform all duties in the spirit of Our Philosophy and in accordance to legal, ethical and contractual practices

  • Able to work with cross functional teams, including maintenance, engineering, and production personnel 
  • Advanced knowledge of internal audit methodologies related to various quality systems
  • Knowledge of material and product defects

  • Strong basic math (including statistics) and reading skills
  • Skilled in statistical software along with MS Office programs
  • Comfortable performing a wide range of responsibilities, from thinking broadly to executing detailed tasks
  • Proven ability to effectively work in a detailed, fact based environment
  • Commitment to personal integrity and integrity of the product(s) and processes
  • Customer focused with the ability to function with a high sense of urgency
  • Confidence to make decisions and a strong commitment to team success
  • Preferred Certified Quality Technician, Certified Quality Auditor (CQA or WI Cert.), Certified Quality Engineer
  • Previous quality experience required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing / production environment required
  • Regulatory experience (preferred)
  • Lean understanding (preferred)
  • Intermediate Excel experience
  • IQS or equivalent Quality system software experience
