Position Summary:

The Scheduling Manager decides how best to schedule equipment and personnel for effectiveness and efficiency while balancing machine capabilities, performance and availability, customer requirements, manpower, material, maintenance and shipping concerns. He or She provides the proper material to the operations units in accordance with inventory levels, customer requirements and planned or unplanned machine breakdowns, etc. Through proper material scheduling an operating unit can achieve maximum efficiency, maintain a high level of quality and increases yield and decreases scrap loss. This is a highly interactive position that requires advanced product knowledge and a strong understanding of the process flow from start to finish. This position oversees inventory and shipping & receiving and regularly interacts with supply chain and purchasing. The ideal candidate strives to achieve on-time customer delivery through problem solving, communication and knowledge of the customer requirements, machine capabilities and performance, and inventory controls. A self-motivated multi-tasker that utilizes a strong work ethic for a 350+ union facility in Chilton, WI is required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner
  • Ability to work in a team environment focusing on meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost standards
  • Review and categorize work orders for most effective and efficient production schedules
  • Prepare and enter schedules and submit to units
  • Interacts with and coordinates machine time needs of customers, vendors, sales, quality, technical services, maintenance, production coordinators, and shipping and receiving
  • Attends staff, operations, review committee, sales, and maintenance, scheduling and safety meetings
  • Performs backlog, lead-time and overtime analysis
  • Reviews and categorizes work orders for most effective and efficient production schedules
  • Mentors production set up department
  • Analyzes divisional objectives, forecasts, sales orders, inventory levels, and plant floor to develop and manage daily schedules and monthly production plans
  • Monitors plant production to ensure schedule is being followed: visually checks inventory, verifies work in progress, missing or incorrect items, etc.
  • Coordinates with Master Scheduler and Inside Sales Manager to adjust schedules for customer inaccuracies or issues
  • Determines course of action for inoperable plant equipment, product shipment variations, etc.
  • Runs and updates daily reports to monitor production floor
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement and transformation efforts including GEMBA walks
  • Provide positive feedback, coaching, developing and opportunities for improvement to employees
  • Administer employee performance evaluations
  • Review and approve employee time records and payroll
  • Regular communications with Human Resources on staffing needs, performance concerns and/or disciplinary issues
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed
  • Assist others as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area 
  • Complete paperwork as required
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
