Position Summary:

The Accounting Analyst II will support the completion of Worthington’s month end and quarterly financial statement consolidation process and is responsible for supporting the design, modification, installation, and maintenance of accounting and financial systems to ensure accurate financial transactions and efficient business processes.  The role will provide finance system users with responsive and accurate business functional production support related to Tagetik CPM and Oracle ERP software suites. The Accounting Analyst II will act as subject matter expert and liaison between Worthington’s IT department and finance organizations on projects and special assignments to articulate business requirements and process flow.  He/she will also translate business requirements into functional specifications and recommended solutions.

- Support monthly and quarterly closing process

- Responsive and accurate business functional production support

- Ensure compliance with internal control requirements

- Financial reporting system and process improvements

- Finance systems projects delivered on-time and on-budget while delivering planned functionality

- Optimization of technology investments
- Assist on special projects

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

- Responsible for updating and maintaining financial systems including exporting and importing of files into databases.

- Modifies menus and spreadsheets for analysis and troubleshooting.

- Provides training to staff on financial systems' databases and software.

- Competent to work on most phases of financial systems development and maintenance.

- Assists with and/or leads various aspects of financial systems projects including the design, build, testing, and training phases

- Responsible for monthly system maintenance and updates including metadata and system calculations

- Helps troubleshoot and resolve system issues

- Provides customer support to end users

- Continuously looks for ways to improve processes through the use of system functionality

- Creates and maintains system and process documentation

- Other responsibilities as assigned

 

Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

- Active listening and effective verbal and written communication skills

- Effective critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge and experience with MS-Office suite is important

- Consolidation Accounting knowledge

- Exceptional accounting and analytical skills, including a strong understanding of account structures, reconciliations, financial close processes, and related reporting requirements

- Ability to interpret / understand business requirements and translate them into a technical system solution / design

- Familiarity with Oracle/Hyperion/Tagetik applications a plus

- Ability to complete tasks on-time and with little to no supervision

- Self-motivator that thrives on new challenges and adapts quickly to new knowledge and changing priorities

- Adept at building trusting relationships while motivating / influencing others to adopt new best practices

- Strong customer service focus

- Exceptional project management skills

 

Education / Training Required:

- Five to seven years of accounting, auditing, finance experience or equivalent

- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field preferred

- CMA or CPA designation a plus
