Business Development Manager (Extraction)

Summary

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for developing partnerships and strategic relationships in the extraction market. The BDM will provide recommendations on products, partners, pricing and positioning to grow Worthington’s earnings in this emerging space. The BDM will collect and analyze data relative to trends and opportunities in this rapidly evolving channel. These efforts will support and progress the strategic plan, generate sales leads, generate revenue and provide marketing direction related to extraction market. This individual will be the face of the Worthington brand within the cannabis market and other adjacent extraction markets.  All of these activities will be in collaboration with Product Managers, Product Directors, Commercial Leaders and NPD/Marketing. Worthington Industries is a Fortune 500 growing company that has a long history of success. Responsibilities

  • Leverage existing relationships and/or develop new relationships in order to enable Worthington to maximize its ROI.
  • Supporting the strategic plan to grow our market position and capitalize on emerging market.
  • Contribute to sales effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-term opportunities, recommending direction and implementing directives.
  • Maintain and effectively communicate extraction market knowledge and understand how Worthington might be or could become uniquely positioned to best capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Provide key market insight to the Product Team, NPD team and commercial leaders to identify the best means to maximize profitability 
  • Identification and development of new partnerships; Identify and evaluate all opportunities for strategic growth (Organic and Inorganic)
  • Conduct customer and product segmentation to clearly identify sales and marketing priorities as well as identification of opportunities supporting efficiencies of our manufacturing facilitiesExecute Go-to-Market Plan: Work with Product, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to implement the go-to-market plan for this category.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor trends and forces within the market such as: competitive landscape, new technology, legislative developments, end-user behaviors and preferences, and regulatory/compliance measures. Market Development: Identify and prioritize future growth opportunities in the extraction market by uncovering unmet needs in the market. 
  • Communication & Reporting: Keep the organization up-to-speed on changes within this market, and communicate findings on a regular cadence. 
  • Price Strategy: Use analytics and market knowledge to develop pricing strategy by product line by geography to maximize profitability relative to plant capacities.

  • Relationships: Prior experience building and developing long-term relationships with current and prospective customers, key industry contacts, and potential co-development partners. Leverage those relationships to learn more about the market and help establish and position Worthington as a leader within the space.

  • Strong working knowledge of the cannabis market, and extraction processes

  • Previous customer insights or interviewing experience is a plus
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse work force
  • Comfortable with travel requirements - travel up to 30%
