The Compensation Analyst is responsible for managing a variety of compensation related projects and conducting in-depth analysis to support the Worthington Industries’ compensation philosophy and effective management decision-making.  Tasks performed include, but not limited to: annual market reviews and overseeing merit processes; ad hoc market reviews for new or changing roles; development and evaluation of internal position descriptions; and providing employee compensation communications and training.  Participates in and analyzes compensation surveys facilitated by third party vendors.  Scope of responsibility spans from the production floor to senior level management and responsible for ensuring market-competitive compensation structures for all positions.  Assists with preparation of data for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors regarding executive compensation.  Participates in the development, review and implementation of the Compensation Department’s initiatives and strategy as it relates to pay increases linked to performance, incentive-based compensation, etc.



  • Responsible for annual market reviews and merit processes for the hourly and salary groups with oversight by the Compensation Manager. Drives the local market review process that is completed by HR. Recommends structural changes and merit budgets to senior management to account for shifts in external market compensation.
  • Provides guidance to managers and HR consistent with the Company’s compensation philosophy regarding a variety of compensation issues. Provides compensation analysis and offer letters, as needed, for salaried new hires, promotions, position changes, etc.
  • Participates in special projects related to various incentive compensation programs (i.e., profit sharing, short term and long term incentives, and equity compensation)
  • Maintains external market survey database matches.  Participates in external market survey questionnaires to reduce data costs. Evaluates and recommends surveys to be included in market comparisons.
  • Evaluates roles and responsibilities and recommends placement of new and modified positions in the compensation structure based on market value, internal equity and proper FLSA classification. Audits process to ensure consistent application of roles and responsibilities.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of WI’s compensation policies, procedures, practices and compensation structures.  Analyzes pay practices and recommends changes when needed (i.e., FLSA, new hire documentation, educational materials, overtime guidelines, etc.)
  • Analyzes executive compensation and assists with preparation of executive compensation materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors. 
  • Participates in the development and implementation of various strategic projects/initiatives and process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Training Required:

  • 3+ years of human resources, financial analysis or compensation related experience
  • Bachelors degree in Business related field or equivalent experience
  • CCP certification preferred
