Worthington Cylinders’ Consumer Products  is searching for a bright, motivated self-starter with a background in accounting or finance.  This individual should aspire to grow within the organization by providing valuable information to business unit leadership for decision making purposes. This position serves as a hybrid role supporting both financial and commercial management. The primary role of the position is to drive our pursuit of commercial excellence, provide financial analysis for the Consumer Products results, & serve in a hybrid role as project manager / finance support for various strategic opportunities (new product development, transformation events, entry into new markets, etc). 


As a Financial Analyst, you will work closely with various functions within the Consumer Products team, communicating directly with senior leadership level partners within our Commercial, Supply Chain, Operations, and Accounting Teams to drive optimal decisions impacting profitability.

  • Customer Pricing Support: Facilitate customer pricing meetings with various business stakeholders, reviewing customer level profitability, competitive intelligence, and hidden costs impacting the facility.
  • Ensure timely handling of quotes/opportunities that route through the pricing team to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Commercial Support: Prepare data for monthly meetings with our Sales organization reviewing results, specifically identifying opportunities to improve price and reduce profit leakage.
  • Create new methods for our commercial leaders to view their business and enhance value.
  • Work with leadership teams to support growth plans across various products.
  • Provide analytical support to the Consumer Products Commercial Transformation initiatives.
  • Capability to think strategically around our commercial practices and challenge ongoing assumptions leading to improved results for the business.
  • Financial Support: Provide analytical support for various strategic initiatives e.g. new product development
  • Assist with special projects relating to economic research, market or material cost updates, business development initiatives, and market intelligence reports.
  • Assist and enhance the creation of executive level reporting packages for Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Ad hoc analysis of financial data and metrics used in business decisions as requested by management
  • Oracel Business Intelligence: Key POC/Super User for finance and sales personnel regarding Oracle cloud tools. 
  • Responsible for understanding business needs/processes and working with Corporate IT to develop our Oracle and other data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) to allow for more timely information to business leaders driving improvements to top line and margin.
  • Implement lean tools and performance management practices
  • Serve as a change agent across the finance, accounting, and sales teams

Desired Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting/finance work experience
  • Bachelors in Accounting/Finance or similar degree or equivalent experience, Masters Business Administration (MBA), CPA, or CFA a plus
  • Project Management experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.  Able to break down complex problems into manageable pieces
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions based on data (some incomplete) and analysis
  • Strong starter and multi-tasking skills
  • Creative thinking and fact-based data collection
  • Working with ambiguity
  • Adept at building trusting relationships while motivating/influencing others to adopt new best practices
  • Computer Proficiency – Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, JD Edwards, Oracle Cloud tools are useful
  • Intermediate understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
