The Consumer Products division of Worthington Industries is looking for a Graphic Designer to provide creative design services in support of its Bernzomatic and Balloon Time brands. This position will deliver brand-right designs that tie back to the overall concept and business strategy - encompassing style, color/print and graphic design for new/existing product lines.  The Designer is responsible for coordinating the packaging development process including, but not limited to, conceptual development, vendor management, art production, proofing and change requests. He/she will direct packaging artwork through internal approval processes and be a key stakeholder in project coordination.  The Designer will be responsible for all file and visual asset management.  They will also work with the New Product Development team to provide conceptual solutions for market research purposes and new product packaging.

The Designer will also support marketing and sales initiatives in visual communications relating to product collateral, merchandising, analytics, retailer line reviews and digital/social media creative. He/she will work with the marketing manager to develop and implement creative programs to support the brand, product and company strategy.



Graphic and package development – concept through production

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team including engineering, regulatory, purchasing,supply chain, sales and external design partners and translators

Packaging management: design objectives, budgets, deadlines, approvals    

Asset management – photography, fonts, graphics. File organization and archiving

Vendor management – print and packaging vendors

New product development: provide packaging concepts and designs to support market research and product development

Team support


Desired Experience

Experience in branding and packaging design (Consumer Packaged Goods).

Experience working with a production team, with a strong understanding of printing processes.

Visual translation – generate visualizations of verbal/written concepts to create clear and coherent design solutions that speak to retailers and consumers.

Ability to evaluate design work, both strategically and aesthetically.

Previous experience in the CPG space a plus.

Experience with P.O.P and display designs a plus.

Customer/client service orientation and belief in the Worthington Industries' Philosophy.


Education/ Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, illustration, visual communications or equivalent design experience.
  • Proficient using PC platform, Adobe Creative Suite (Expert knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign), Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Minimum 3 years professional design experience preferred
