Lead Product Development Engineer- Innovation

Summary

The  Lead Product Development Engineer will lead design, simulation and development of strategic new products within North America’s Low Pressure portfolio as well as mentor and further mature our engineering team. We are seeking an experienced, top-tier Sr. level engineer that thrives in fast paced, diverse, and entrepreneurial environments and excited to take technical ownership.  Growth oriented role with an opportunity to work on many different NPD products that will span across a variety of product, materials and industries. 

Responsibilities

  • Strong mechanical and manufacturing technical foundation 
  • Experienced in new product design from cradle-to-grave
  • Proficient in static loading, small deflection Finite Element Analysis and other simulation techniques to improve product performance and decrease overall schedule risk
  • Practical understanding of common plastic part manufacturing methods (eg injection molding, blow molding, rotoforming, etc) and design constraints thereto 
  • Business Acumen - Identifies cost and risks at the component and sub-assembly level to meet defined cost targets
  • Strong communication skills; comfortable and effective in presenting and distilling complex technical topics to the business
  • Respectfully challenges and confident in voicing opinion  
  • Software proficiencies: SolidWorks CAD and FEA
  • Highly collaborative and able to quickly build trust across multiple disciplines including design, voice of customer, quality, procurement, supply chain and project management
  • Demonstrated track record of project leadership from concept to launch of large cross-functional teams is preferred
  • Familiarity with codes and regulations such as CFR 49, ASME BVP, NFPA 58, ATEX, and International Protection for dust and water ingress a bonus
  • Experience integrating electronics circuitry into products a bonus
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity 
  • Self motivated and team player mentality  
  • Strong desire to innovate and own delivery of project outcomes
  • Excited to work in fast paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment  
     

Desired Experience

  • 5 – 10 years of engineering experience
  • 3+ years of new product development experience 
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in ABET accredited mechanical, material science, industrial or similar engineering program
  • Project management experience preferred
