Worthington Steel is seeking a Maintenance Technician with a proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems in an efficient and safe manner throughout the facility. This position is responsible for preventative and mechanical maintenance and must possess knowledge of machine repair. A successful candidate is a self-motivated problem-solver that utilizes a strong work ethic to ensure all quality levels are met. 

Schedule: Members of our Columbus Steel Maintenance team are part of a monthly rotation schedule. Each month, team members will work either 1st shift (Mon-Thurs. 6a-4p), 2nd shift (Mon-Fri. 2p-10p), 3rd shift (Sun-Thurs. 10p-6a) or weekends (Fri-Sun. 6a-6p). Team members have the flexibility to trade shifts, hold shifts if available, and work overtime if desired.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems in an efficient and safe manner throughout the facility
  • Performs typical preventative maintenance on all machinery as assigned
  • Successfully troubleshoots typical mechanical problems
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic & pneumatic hardware, circuits, and can comprehend prints
  • Completion of required safety training and all safety engagement points. Involved with rapid experiments and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work. Evaluate and select solutions from established operating procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Developing mechanical and machining skills
  • Communicates moderately complex technical information within the team
  • Basic knowledge of AC/DC Power
  • Intermediate knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Intermediate math and measuring skills
  • Ability to use all maintenance tools with little to no guidance
  • Start/Stop operation of plant equipment
  • Capable of reading mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic prints
  • Willingness to develop maintenance skillset
  • 2-5 years of maintenance experience, industrial maintenance preferred but not required
