Oil & Gas CADD Supervisor

CADD Supervisor is a working supervisor role that reports directly to the Engineering Manager with responsibility of leading the day-to-day activities of a group of CADD drafters and designers performing 3D modeling and 2D drafting work split between two plant locations (Tulsa, OK & Bremen, OH).  This position will be responsible for ensuring that the CADD Team’s deliverables align departmental drafting standards, Code requirements, and those set forth in corporate quality doctrine.  In parallel to leading the team, the CADD Supervisor will have 3D modeling and 2D drafting responsibilities tied to projects. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inherits 3D models in the 90% complete stage, performs model integrity checks, and plans and directs the drafting portion of projects as well as directs the activities of the CADD team to produce 2D drawings from 3D models.
  • Manages design drafting department by overseeing day-to-day workflow and scheduling, participating in or leading the selection and training of new employees as well as performance evaluations, salary review and feedback and discipline for current employees
  • Inherit ownership and drive to completion the implementation of Solidworks.  Serve as single point of contact for CADD admin inquiries for the SBU.
  • May prepare details, sub assembly drawings, assembly drawings and other engineering specifications as required.  This includes creating of new parts to add to the 3D CADD parts library
  • Maintain current knowledge of ANSI/National CADD drafting standards, specifically geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards. Promulgate these standards within the business unit and insure that engineering drawings are made to these standards when practical.
  • Establishes, maintains, reviews, and revises the Engineering and Drafting standards manual as required.
  • Checks and monitors 3D model and 2D drawing quality and insure that drawing quality is correct, consistent, and legible.  This includes reviewing native CADD files to ensure that CADD standards are being followed.

Desired Experience

  • Expert level of knowledge in the software engineering behind 3D CADD and possess the ability to exploit this to the greatest extent possible to benefit the organization’s quality and production goals
  • Mentorship of Design Engineering and CADD teams on the importance of CADD standards and how to effectively implement them into daily CADD production
  • Ability to schedule work within the CADD team to meet the larger organizations demands
  • Ability to inherit a 3D model from a Design Engineer and quickly review and correct model integrity issues, if any, before delegating the task of extracting 2D drawings from the 3D model
  • Multi-tasking and ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend project specifications and contract documents
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks with the ability to progress to expert level rapidly
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Availability to travel up to 50%

Education/Training Required

  • Engineering or Applicable Technical Degree or relevant industry experience
  • 15+ years CADD leadership role
