Summary

The Commodity Manager manages the overall procurement process for designated commodities within the Oil & Gas Strategic Business Unit. This includes utilization of procurement best practices, identifying market trends, industry benchmarking, supplier development, price controls, cost reductions, and cost avoidance to achieve the objectives of strategic sourcing initiatives.  The services provided by this position are contract negotiations, pricing consistency, unified sourcing, and business unit support on directed purchases.  

Responsibilities

•Manage and facilitate multi-step commodity sourcing initiatives

•Resolve issues relating to price, delivery, quality, etc.

•Monitor & manage contract compliance

•Interact with and provide support to Cylinders Management, Operations, Quality, and Engineering plus Price Risk Management

•Coordinate review of supplier performance with Cylinders Cabs Quality Team

•Coordinate & implement supplier continuous improvement programs

•Other duties as assigned

Desired Experience

Critical Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

•Oil & Gas Industry experience

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

•Strong working knowledge of available systems and software (Oracle, Excel, Word, MRP systems etc.)

•Complete understanding of purchasing processes and procedures (5+yrs experience)

•Excellent negotiating skills

•Strong understanding of various inventory strategies

•Strong analytical abilities

•Must be responsible, reliable and self-motivated.  Drive to improve all processes and performance is essential.  Comfortable with prioritizing and managing multiple assignments

Education / Training Required:

•Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance related area, or equivalent experience

•C.P.M. certification (ISM) Preferred
