Worthington Industries is looking for an accountable Productivity & Collaboration Developer (Corporate IT in Columbus) to build/configure, test, deploy, and support productivity and collaboration solutions based on business needs.  As there are current needs in the SharePoint environment, the role is expected to evolve over time with the productivity and collaboration landscape (MS O365, web technologies, workflow, etc.)  Candidate must be able to work collaboratively in the spirit of Our Philosophy.


  • Secure deployment of high-quality systems to production environments (at or under department standards for quality/defects)
  • Timely delivery of work products based on commitment dates
  • Application of existing and emerging technologies (innovation) in an effective, efficient, timely, and beneficial manner to the organization
  • Understand and analyze business requirements; document business requirements as needed
  • Translate business requirements to effective & efficient system designs (documented designs/models); focus on user experience is a must
  • Develop solutions (functional and technical) to design specifications (in an agile/iterative manner, when applicable)
  • Test solutions (unit test, integration test, etc.); work with BAs, System Testers, users as needed
  • Perform production support and troubleshooting as needed (new and existing components)
  • Assist with technology upgrades as needed
  • Work towards measuring and increasing technology/solution adoption and end user engagement
  • Remain current on new or emerging tools and solutions that could benefit our business systems
  • Support, train, and share knowledge with peers, end users, and other teams as needed (Service Desk, End Users, Systems, Security, Release Management, PMO, etc.)
  • Ensure systems perform in an optimal fashion that meets or exceeds business requirements
  • Complete system and user documentation
  • Provide accurate estimates of work (tasks, hours, etc.) and perform work in a timely & quality manner
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply technology is required
  • Perform in a continuous improvement mode (constantly look for ways to operate more efficiently and effectively; and apply change)
  • Adhere to department principles, processes, standards, conventions, and industry best practices when performing work
  • Other duties as assigned


Desired Experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience

A minimum of 2 years productivity and collaboration development experience in a structured team environment

SharePoint certification is preferred

Knowledge and experience of SharePoint APIs is preferred


Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

​​​Solid working knowledge and experience with:

SharePoint 2013 and 2016+

SharePoint foundation, system architecture (system components, etc.), and integration points

SharePoint technologies and tools (sites, workflows, lists, libraries, views web parts, search, social, master pages, Designer, 3rd party tools, etc.)

SharePoint security model and performance tuning

User interfaces/user experience (desktop, mobile, etc.) best practices

HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript

Software Development Lifecycle methodologies

Automating, improving, and leaning out business processes

Ability to configure SharePoint and develop code in a manner to foster readability and maintainability for a team environment

Experience with Microsoft Office, Exchange/Outlook, and Office 365 is required

Preferred knowledge and experience with:

Visual Studio and .NET programming

Integrating SharePoint with other systems, like Beezy and OnBase

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) best practices

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including teamwork and team building, written and verbal

Strong analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills





Bachelors in Computer Science or Information Systems
