Senior Database Administrator

Major Responsibilities

​​​​​​Work closely with BI, systems, production support, development and other teams to address issues related to managed technology areas and provide support as needed. Responsible for all database management including installation, configuration, administration, upgrades or migration. Design architecture for setting up JDE ERP. Provide technical support in excess of the normal eight-hour work day and be part of the mandatory database on-call schedule supporting the Worthington Industries helpdesk. Understanding of database technologies and issues and business needs. Provide support to Oracle Apps R12.1, R12.2 multi-tier system implemented on RAC. Troubleshoot e-business suite workflows, SOA Gateway, concurrent managers, system administration related issues and implement fixes. Manage multiple production and development Oracle applications environments. Deploy Oracle Informatica application code and objects. Administer, support and maintain Informatica applications and database. Administer Oracle Data warehouse database. Understand and interpret RDA, AWR, ADDM, Explain Plan, tkprof and other such tuning tools as well as provide fixes for issues. Leverage understanding of Unix / Linux operating systems and shell scripting. Determine required number of servers, and server system specifications and operating systems. Determine best RDBMS and web servers as well as ports to be used. Maintain, support, and perform administrative activities for JDE applications, tools and users. Apply patches & bug fixes (ESUs) and deploy changes. Migrate JDE applications to AWS cloud. Perform checkup and maintenance activities. Define security setup for end users. Work with and support developers, functional teams and business end users. Perform regular and monthly backup of production and non-production databases.

Job Requirements

Applicant must possess a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer applications or a related field and 8 years of experience in database administration with an IT organization. Additionally, the applicant must have 8 years professional experience in the following: 1.) Application administration of e-Business suite in Exadata platform; 2.) Oracle applications DBA, Oracle system administrator, and Oracle Application server administration of Oracle R12.x.x shared appl top on Oracle RAC architecture; 3.) Performance tuning of e-Business Suite workflows, concurrent managers; 4.) Performance tuning of Oracle 11g/12c database and tuning of SQL, PL/SQL by analyzing AWR, ADDM, explain plan and TKPROF reports; 5.) Oracle 11g and 12c on RAC and ASM; 6.) Setting up Standby databases using Oracle Data Guard, Data Guard broker; 7.) Oracle database backup and recovery solutions; 8.) Refresh and post refresh activities of Oracle instances; and 9.) Diagnosing problems related to Oracle Apps and supply/implement viable solutions.
