Summary

Worthington Industries is seeking a Transformation Manager to lead Transformation for the Industrial Products Group within the Pressure Cylinders Business Unit. The Transformation Manager will be responsible for setting the roadmap of operational improvements across the SBU as well as coordinating, enabling and executing the improvement plan at our manufacturing plants along with the local plant transformation manager and the plant leadership teams. Additionally, the Transformation Manager will be responsible for LEAN training and building a culture of continuous improvement at each of the plants. This individual will have a strong partnership with the individual Operations Managers, local plant transformation managers and BU Transformation team to help improve the overall efficiencies within each facility.  This opportunity has great visibility and opportunity for tangible impact.

Responsibilities

  • Create/grow culture of aggressive, tangible, bottom line improvements
  • Create, analyze and evaluate plant value stream maps, metrics, and strategic goals to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities
  • Work with Operations Managers, plant Transformation Managers and BU Transformation team to build and maintain an aggressive plant improvement plan
  • Influence leadership (including GMs, BU President, etc.) on strategic topics and help make decisions that support the needs of the business
  • Coordinate plant and corporate/BU resources to execute plant improvement plan
  • Hire, train, coach and lead high potential plant transformation team members
  • Train plant employees on basic lean tools and kaizen methodology; coordinate corporate/BU assistance for advanced lean training

Desired Experience

  • 5+ years of operations, supply chain, commercial, integrated planning, or plant engineering experience and 3+ years of experience as a lean practitioner
  • Ability to identify opportunities and drive impact
  • Strong communications and change management skills
  • Proven record of influencing people at difference organizational levels (leaders, peers, operators etc.)
  • Short and long term project management skills
  • Lean understanding and experience preferred
  • Inspire and influence without authority and challenge status quo
  • Proven track record of developing teams
  • Ability to facilitate hands-on training
  • Ability to travel to various US-based plants on a regular basis as well as to Europe when necessary
