Summary

Technical Services Managers are responsible for providing full technical services support to customers in collaboration with the commercial team around business growth, problem solving, and product development.  This position would specialize in product offerings and processes associated with hot-dip galvanizing, and be an active participant at the producing plants in applying solutions to address customer needs and meet quality expectations. This position is expected to become the customer’s main point of contact for technical resources support when appropriate. Key position results include but are not limited to, accurate & timely investigation of business opportunities; effective technical solutions to address pain-points; application of new products or process technologies; and raw material sourcing development. A successful candidate is a highly analytical multi-tasker with excellent organizational, prioritizing and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes customer needs, interprets specifications, applies solutions around WI products and processes.

• Serves as a subject matter expert to the customer regarding materials and manufacturing methods.

• Works with WI plants to optimize processing and execute product development.

• Communicates across groups and publishes test reports to support technical services activities.

• Engages suppliers using data around quality or grade development objectives.

• Other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience

• Advanced knowledge of ferrous metallurgy

• Advanced knowledge of flat-rolled steel processing operations, in particular hot-dip galvanizing

• Knowledge of steel making technologies and operations

• Knowledge of downstream manufacturing utilizing flat-rolled steel

• Ability to conduct and apply technical research

• Ability to process and interpret data to support decision-making

• Strong leadership, organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills

• Good negotiating skills

• Strong work ethic

• Excellent prioritizing skills

Education

Bachelors in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering
