The Material Planner manages short range production planning and advises to purchase materials necessary to support production plan. They are responsible for day-to-day sales functions such as order entry, order expediting and problems solving. This position is responsible to assist in maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet customer demands and business objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Order entry, order tracking, status review, and gathering market intelligence
  • Maintains the inventory supply/demand balance
  • Resolves inventory supply/demand exceptions with appropriate people
  • Customer Communication (Phone, E-mail)
  • Work directly with the assigned customers to determine accurate forecasts
  • Creates and manages mill and processor forecasts and releases for direct material
  • Develop and build key relationships with customers, suppliers and co-workers
  • Account coverage for out of office team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong planning, time management and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to understand and assess supply chain issues and work cross functionally to resolve issues
  • Efficient computer skills in MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and MS Teams
  • Good attitude, team player and willingness to take on more are a must
  • Understands materials management concepts and terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively and positively accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Oracle body of knowledge skills a plus
  • Industry leading practices


Bachelors or equivalent in Business or Supply Chain
