The Production Area Manager assists the Value Stream Manager by leading the team in the day to day operations of the production shift. This role is an active, hands-on member of the management team for an assigned crew on a 12 hour rotating schedule. The Production Area Manager works to direct the efforts of the team toward accomplishing long and short term goals and tracks progress to achieve measurable results. This manager leads by example, stays true to the company philosophy, and facilitates success by assuring that employees have the tools and training they need to continue to grow and contribute safely. This position requires a leader who puts people and their safety first, takes pride in the quality of their work, and is committed to the success of their team.


  • Runs the day to day operations of a crew of team members on a 12 hour production schedule
  • Improve safety and safe practices through process improvement; remove manual handling of steel and scrap wherever possible and train safe practices of steel handling
  • Gain capacity by increasing uptime and reducing cycle times
  • Reduce costs by closely controlling what is placed in reject
  • Continue the implementation and sustaining of 6S
  • Ensure that all required audits are completed on-time and accurate
  • Institute training programs with employees so process related maintenance calls are reduced and each crew has backups on their shift to minimize overtime for vacation coverage
  • Follow through with Opportunities For Improvement (OFIs)

Desired Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree preferred
  • A minimum of four years of experience in a leadership or management role in a similar manufacturing operation
  • Possess proven electrical & mechanical acumen for machinery
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership skills
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in computer skills
