Summary

The Quality Control Technician's primary function is to improve the quality of products produced and shipped. This is done through documenting and modifying quality processes, policies and procedures; supplier and customer claim investigation and corrective action; data collection, analysis, statistical process controls, auditing and reporting. Also may be responsible for timely and cost effective disposition of supplier and customer-rejected material.   The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, problem solver who utilizes knowledge and understanding as well as a strong work ethic to ensure all specifications and quality are met.

Responsibilities
  • Enter scrap, rework, rejection, claim and inspection data 
  • Calibration of scales, gages and measuring equipment
  • Collect, track and enter quality samples
  • Collect statistical process control (SPC) data and participate in root cause investigations and analysis
  • Edit, update and maintain customer requirements (i.e., label and packaging specs.) to meet regulatory, customer or supplier requirements
  • May audit production inspectors or provide guidance to production employees
  • Gather and exchange information with vendors or customers regarding quality requirements or dispute resolution ( may require visits to vendor / customer facilities)
  • Timely resolution of customer and vendor issues and claims
  • Timely and accurate samples, data, records and calibrations
  • Policy, procedure and regulatory compliance
  • Other duties as assigned
Desired Experience
  •  Minimum of 2 years' experience or training on ISO-90001/TS/IATF 16949
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Quality Tech, Specialist, Inspector or Engineer preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with tier 1 & tier 2 automotive customers preferred
  • Strong computer skills: Word and Excel
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Willingness to occasionally travel locally to visit customers
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience with measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, scale and tape measure
  • Two or more years' experience with AIAG core tools:
  • PFMEA
  • Control Plan
  • Process Flows
  • SPC
  • PPAP
  • Cage Calibration
  • Gage R & R
  • Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis
  • Layered Process Audits

 

Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
