Summary

NDE Inspector is responsible for product inspection and testing in accordance with the relevant drawings, specifications, codes and standards.  The role also includes various product and material testing, such as hydrostat, tensile, incoming, and X-ray.  NDE Inspectors have familiarity with or applicable knowledge of codes for DOT, TC, CGA, ASME, and ISO standards and able to support the departmental management with various regulatory and customer support activities.

Must be a minimum Level II RT, PT, and UT; CWI is a plus. Have the ability to train, coordinate, communicate effectively with all departments

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process checks and final inspections.
  • Complete all inspection documentation as required. 
  • Perform regulatory testing such as proof tests, mechanical tests on all types and sizes of pressure vessels per the standard. 
  • Perform calibration of test equipment.  Must be able to operate tnesile machines per regulatory and internal requirements. 
  • Train and coordinate activiites for entry level inspectors.
  • X-Ray Inspections.
  • Coordinate inspections with Production groups. 
  • Notify Quthorized Inspector (AI) of upcoming inspection activities
  • Provide feedback and insight on improvement opportunities notes as a result of inspection and testing
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Experience

  • Minimum of 2 -3 years of experience as an Inspector.
  • Strong ready, writing and arithmetic.
  • Minimum Level II NDE Experience ( RT, UT, VT, PT)
  • Certified Welding Inspector preferred
  • Must be able to interpret product drawings, understand inspection requirements, inspection plans, and inspection frequencies 
  • Must be able to use micrometers, calipers and various other inspection devices 
  • Ability to understand the workings of the various equipment (hydro/tensile) and assist with problem solving / repair solutions; Able to assure testing outputs are valid; Equipment validation
  • Ability to lead, train, coordinate and communicate effectively with all levels of inspectors and all other departments  
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Must have X-ray interpretation skills of welding operations
  • Strong problem solving and mathmatical skills
  • Strong skills within the business operating computer systems
  • Must be able to comprehend, retain and manage internal and regulatory requirements

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
