The Robotic Weld Programmer is responsible for setting up and operating the robotic welder to assemble cabs, ROPS, FOPS, and specialized weldments. This position is also inspects the finished product per required specifications and makes corrections as necessary. This role will also have the responsibility for basic programming functions of robotic welder and troubleshooting common mechanical/tooling problems. A successful candidate will be self-starter and possess great organizational skills. 


  • Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.
  • Plans details of working procedure.
  • Stages material in work area using a forklift and or hoist if necessary.
  • Loads fixtures onto positioner.
  • Lays out, positions, bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure into position within fixture for welding.
  • Determines weld acceptability after welding is complete.
  • Unloads product from fixture.
  • Grinds excess weld, sharp corners, or sharp protrusions.
  • Removes welds or parts that do not meet quality specifications.
  • Makes necessary weld repairs and corrections manually.
  • Inspects finished product for completeness and conformance to all quality assurance procedures.
  • Operates machine by performing the duties mentioned above to run successive pieces.
  • Moves product using a cart, dolly, pallet jack, forklift, jib, or bridge crane hoist.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Desired Experience

  • Must have the ability to program his/her assigned robot
  • Must have the ability to edit an existing robot program
  • Must be able to troubleshoot basic mechanical problems within the weld cell
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to read and comprehend a tape measure and blueprints
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to operate in a team environment
  • Must have the ability to coordinate work demands with fabrication/welding departments
  • Proficient mathematical skills 
  • Must be able to stand for extended period of time and exert moderate to heavy physical effort with a minimum lifting requirement of 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to travel as needed via most efficient means
  • Must be physically able to access all areas of the plant and grounds
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or 3-6 months welding experience with emphasis on robotics.
  • Must also have previous robotic welding programming experience and or training. 
  • Pulse/spray experience preferred.
