We are seeking an Accountant for our West Warwick operations.  This role will be responsible for the timely and accurate generation of ledger entries and the closing process, informed and well-reasoned analysis and reports, opportunities for improvement and structured documentation of work processes and results.

Responsibilities

General Ledger - Applying basic accounting principles, assists in day-to-day maintenance of complete and accurate general ledger transactions, prepares standard journal entries, reconciles balance sheet accounts and identifies discrepancies for further review. Reviews trial balances, compiles other statistical data to incorporate with general ledger information. Prepares reports to substantiate transactions prior to settlement.

Fixed Assets – Maintains the fixed asset sub-ledger in JD Edwards, processes monthly fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers and other adjustments, prepares sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliation, compiles standard reporting to business units, maintains Corporate CapEx tracking files.

Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) – Prepares Monthly and Quarterly reconciliation.  Assists with operational and financial audits (Sarbanes Oxley).

Financial Planning, Budgeting/Forecasting - Assist in gathering and reviewing budget/forecast data and information

Tax Accounting and Planning - Provides tax data and information to tax department

Capital Planning and Appropriation (as needed) - Assist in documenting simple to moderate financial planning, modeling and analysis projects; assists with preparing or reviewing simple Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) and post CAR completion reviews; assist with preparing and consolidating a wide range of operating and financial projections for the development of both short-term and long-term business plans

Rebate: Prepare monthly rebate analysis and customer rebate progress reports

Desired Experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree with a preference for Accounting or Finance discipline.

Accounting/finance work experience strongly preferred.

Solid understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Standards (SOX)

 

 

Essential Skills:

Accounting Software – Prefer JD Edwards or Oracle Financial experience

Proficient using Microsoft Office, plus intermediate to expert Excel skills

Basic analytical skills and strong attention to detail

Takes initiative and execute routine tasks independently

Breaks down objectives into executable tasks

Clarifies and manages evolving priorities

Ability to build collaborative relationships and work as a member of a cross-functional team

Ability to anticipate needs and responsibilities of team members when planning work

Education

Bachelors or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
