Summary

The primary role of the Quality Inspector position is to inspect welds and parts of cylinders and pipe for quality, stress and failure using using non-destructive inspection methods and/or hydrostatic or pneumatic test methods per regulatory, customer and internal requirements. The Inspector must be able to read and analyze all results and complete all necessary paperwork that accompanies the inspection process. Inspectors have applicable knowledge of codes for ASME and ISO standards.  A successful candidate is a self-motivated, problem solver who has a strong work ethic to ensure all specifications and quality standards are met. 

Responsibilities

Desired Experience

  • Knowledge of physical steel properties 
  • Certified Welding Inspector or ASNT-TC-1A qualification for visual weld inspection preferred
  • Basic knowledge of quality control processes
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be able to comprehend and retain internal and regulatory requirements
  • Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work and be able to stand on your feet for 10 hrs a day
  • Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes
  • Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures
  • Must understand inspection requirements, plans and frequencies
  • Must be able to use micrometers, calipers, various other inspection devices and common tools
  • Ability to lead, train, coordinate and communicate effectively with entry level inspectors and other departments.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
