This Lab Technician will be responsible to perform hands-on Engineering Lab tasks which include Product Failure Analysis, Test Set-up and Run, Data Recording, Data Logging into Excel and Engineering Support.  Position is not repetitive in nature and requires a proactive candidate that is a self-starter which pays attention to details. oversees and performs testing of materials to insure that customer and internal specifications are met prior to their release for shipment. This role provides accurate test results and maintenance of laboratory data base and maintains a safe operating environment. The Technician is required to possess sufficient knowledge and experience to operate laboratory in absence of Lab Manager. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, problem solver who utilizes knowledge and understanding as well as a strong work ethic to ensure all specifications and quality are met. 

  • Oversees lab workflow and safe operation.
  • Test Set-up – includes setting up test equipment and samples for test – cycle testing, burst testing, environmental testing, Temperature testing etc….
  • Conducts all laboratory tests as needed to get the job done.
  • Data recording and logging – includes daily tracking of results and detailed recording
  • Performs entry of test results in data base and designation of data to be certified to customers.
  • Resolves timely shipment issues with inside sales, shipping and shop floor.
  • Trains technicians and management trainees.
  • Verifies calibration of test equipment and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Product failure analysis - Leak testing and carefully cutting open failed product to pin point the failed component and help determine the root cause of failure
  • Recommends changes and updates to test procedures when needed.
  • Model making – includes small prototype proof models to support engineering with proof of concepts.  May include: sanding, painting, simple machining and assembly work.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Desired Experience
  • Mentoring and assessing employees within the framework of individuals’ skills and proficiencies
  • Safety conscious regarding self and others
  • Use of electronic equipment – Computer (Excel, Word, Outlook), Digital Camera, Fluke meters etc.
  • Use of power equipment
  • 3D Printer maintenance
  • Ability to interact with multiple computer systems to determine and communicate steel dispositions
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce safe and environmentally responsible practices in the workplace
  • Capability to read and interpret public and internal specifications
  • Sufficient experience and knowledge to order retests based on interpretation of test result
High School Diploma or equivalent
