As a Safety Engineer at our West Warwick facility that is part of Worthington's Cylinders business, you will provide technical assistance to production support personnel in day to day production problem & safety resolution; this position has the primary responsibility for developing procedures and implementing systems to proactively prevent employees from being injured. Promotes EHS awareness with the emphasis on preventing incidents and protecting employees as well as the environment. Responsible for recognizing and assessing hazards in the work place, developing corrective measures, and completing corrective actions. Works with plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.), corporate policies, consensus standards, and implementation of best practices.  Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment.  Evaluate effectiveness of current controls and recommend improvements.  Use a systematic approach to design, fabricate, install and evaluate safety devices and controls.


  • Reduction in the frequency and severity of incidents.
  • Elevated awareness of EHS within a facility
  • Zero instances of regulatory non-compliance and associated penalties.
  • Continuous improvement toward Company goals for safety and environmental performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Critical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Experience in a safety role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering eduction or experience a plus!
  • Must exhibit strong leadership and management skills
  • Must possess strong organization, interpersonal, and record keeping skills
  • Must have solid understanding of safety policies and procedures
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of plant personnel
  • Able to present material to groupsStrong MS Office knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety compliance
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity skills
  • Ability to work in teams and lead projects


Bachelors or equivalent
