Summary

The primary role of the Engineering Technician is to continuously improve production levels and

quality through innovation in the design, repair and maintenance of equipment and process flow.

This includes maximizing the time, equipment is available for operations and minimizes equipment

down time. This position is responsible for making independent decisions in the areas of cost

reduction, trouble shooting, equipment/upgrade installations and start-up duties. The ideal

candidate is a self-motivated, problem solver who is knowledgeable in hydraulic, pneumatic,

electrical and mechanical systems and has a strong work ethic to improve quality and production

levels. All decisions will need to be in compliance with current electrical codes, OSHA safety

standards, Worthington safety and operational procedures. This position is also responsible for

working with vendors to get the best comparable price for supplies and services.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot equipment and production problems through root cause analysis.

- Specify, design and implement new jigs/fixtures/tooling and equipment.

- Write and debug PLC programs.

- Train operators and maintenance on new equipment and processes and Engineering Technicians.

- Identify and implement cost reduction ideas.

- Author Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR).

- Manage projects to achieve departmental and plant goals.

Desired Experience

- AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience.

-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

- Must be able to create and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical drawings.

- Read, write and interpret PLC ladder logic (RS Logix 500 & 5000).

- Operator interface programming (Panelbuilder & RS View).

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

- Working knowledge of general plant systems (ie. pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical).

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Fluent PC skills including MS Office.

- Robotic programming and troubleshooting experience a plus.

- Knowledge of resistance and arc welding a plus.

-Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/General Engineering or equivalent in experience and education
