Worthington Industries is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and passionate Plant Engineering Manager at our Pressurized Cylinders facility in Westerville, Ohio.  Operations at the 200,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility include steel blanking, extrusion, welding, annealing, pressure testing, painting, and packaging.  The Plant Engineering Manager is a dynamic, multi-faceted position that is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the business leadership team and the facility’s engineering and maintenance teams.  This key leader identifies, communicates, and implements business and team key performance indicators while executing plant, business unit, and company strategic plans.  This position is accountable for the initiation, follow-up, and timely completion of projects.  The ideal candidate is a highly analytical multi-tasker with excellent communication skills.  They should be able to easily juggle multiple assignments at once and interact with all levels of the organization.  This position has an emphasis on delivering best-in-class technical leadership, driving end-to-end execution, and team and personnel development.


  • Oversee and support, coach, develop, and empower a team of professional technical resources including, but not limited to, engineers (project, design, electrical, reliability, etc.), engineering technicians, maintenance leaders, and maintenance technicians
  • Ability to successfully work with cross-functional teams to diagnose and determine root cause, solve problems, and implement permanent countermeasures to avoid reoccurrence
  • Assist in the development of long term plans that best meet the future demands of the customers and business; this includes, but not limited to, participating in new product development, manufacturing prototypes, technology enhancements, and automation
  • Prepare, plan, and direct projects including cost estimates and Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) as needed.
  • Perform product/process analysis and initiate activities for continuous improvement, cost reductions, quality improvements, and improved efficiencies
  • Participate in production liability investigation when required
  • Engage/lead meetings to plan and schedule work assignments and to assess progress and results
  • Maintain in conjunction with Quality Manager, compliance to DOT / TC and CSA regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that all equipment meets local, state, and federal code requirements
  • Oversee the upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment, including drawings
  • Oversee the initiation, follow-up, and timely completion of projects.
  • Work with plant personnel, as well as outside contractors, throughout all phases of projects

  • High volume Lean manufacturing experience 
  • NFPA electrical compliance and facility classification beneficial 
  • 10 years progressive experience in engineering with increasing responsibilities 
  • 2-3 years progressive experience with team leadership and people/skill management 
  • 3-5 yrs Lean Manufacturing, TPM, ISO-9000 training and applicable experience beneficial


Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering

Bachelors or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
